I think its important that people don’t look at the tomodachi life patch a while ago as “patching out gays”. Because it wasn’t just a gay glitch. It was one glitch that screwed with a lot of different parts of the marriage system. It needed to be fixed.

(You can however call them out for not adding them in intentionally in the first place prior to that though. Thats fair game I guess.)

  I think with enough demand an update could possibly come out to allow gay relationships without all the other gamebreaking stuff. Though I do question how hard it would be to add in sexuality choices. That could probably take way longer than it sounds.
