HEY ALL YOU WHINY 09ER SCRUB BITCHES, LISTEN UP.

Next time you get bodied by Little Mac or who tfever and want to call them broken, remember what I’m about to tell you, I’m about to explain the difference between broken and overpowered.

A BROKEN character is a character who flat out isn’t even attempted to be balanced or is not tested properly.  These are almost exclusively boss characters, for example.

An OVERPOWERED character is a character who is too good, but can be beaten.  Little Mac would probably have this distinction, as well as Azrael from Chronophantasma and Evil Ryu from Ultra 4.

There is also a third distinction where a character is simply good or top tier without being too good or broken.  Very few will admit this of course, that would require accepting one’s own poor performance and not attempting to justify a loss with excuses.

One of the dumbest things I’ve seen fraudulent players do is compare “broken” characters to Super Turbo Akuma.  A little tip for you guys….I don’t care what game you play, what character you fought or what you think you know, they are not as broken as ST Akuma.PERIOD.   And half of you haven’t even played ST or could even name why Akuma is broken and you probably just parrot the shit cause you heard veteran FG players say it, so know what?  I’m gonna help you out.

  • Akuma is immune to stun.  Stun is a pretty important thing in ST because it’s part of what makes offensive pressure so scary, as well as the fact that damage racks up fast due to low scaling, so being completely prone to any attack is not a situation you want to be in.  Akuma, however, can just yolo all day and do what the fuck he wants because this will never happen to him.
  • Meterless unblockable setups.  It doesn’t matter how good at blocking you think you are, if Akuma knows what he’s doing, you are going to crack at some point and he is going to kill you.  That’s all there is to it.
  • GOU ZANKUU.  This fucking move was so good in ST, Akuma will fall as he’s throwing the fireball, which has very lengthy hitstun and goes at a stupid good angle.  He can create unblockables or just fuck with you because he’s got an air fireball and you don’t.
  • Invincible tatsu.  Akuma has the old tatsumaki from the original versions of Ryu, meaning he can just shit on anything you try to do to him.  Oh but it gets worse, because Akuma’s is FASTER AND HAS A HIGHER VELOCITY, meaning anything you try it susceptible to being shut down by the roflcopter.
  • Overall high damage and mobility, as well as everything being safe.  Akuma does not have to gamble or take risks, everything he does is either a guaranteed success or is safe enough for him to try again with no repercussions to fear.  In addition to not needing to commit to anything, Akuma can get anywhere onscreen due to his fast walk speed and retarded teleport, and when he does touch you you’re dying in like 2 combos, one to stun you and one to finish you.
  • And on top of all this, in the Dreamcast version, GBA version and HD Remix, he still has the SGS and it has never been faster with the possible exception of SF4 ultra 1.

This was well before Akuma became the low health glass cannon we know him as today.  Back then he didn’t have a playstyle that consisted of the player trying to be creative and sneaky to hit the opponent with a mixup and send them into the vortex to make them guess, no he didn’t need to be unpredictable.  Quite the opposite.  You know exactly what Akuma is gonna do in ST, but there’s nothing you can do to stop it because he’s fucking ST Akuma.  Even David Sirlin’s glorified Mugen fullgame HDR did not properly nerf Akuma.  If the other player is even slightly better than you and they pick Akuma your chances of winning are nil.  Absolute.  Fucking.  Zero.

So kids, next time you get completely murdered by a high tier character or your low tier hero gimmick team got mercilessly trashed, don’t go on SRK or Eventhubs or Gamefaqs and write up a salty post under the pretense of being more skilled than the other guy because you don’t need to “rely on top tiers.”  Instead you have two options.  1.)Learn how to deal with a ridiculous character, or 2.)Drop your char(s) for one(s) that deal with them better.  Sure Mac, Azrael, Evil ryu, whoever may be too good and may or may not need a nerf, but that does not make them broken, only OP.  Broken is not the same thing as OP.

And please, do NOT invoke the name of ST Akuma when trying to make a case.  You WILL look like a scrub to everyone who has been playing fighters for more than a week.

They will never heed this advice, unfortunately.

Scrub mentality is often indicative of other personality problems, namely egotism, in the sense that they to can’t admit personal flaws, and prefer to project their shortcomings onto other factors,

In this case, blaming Little Mac players for using a “CHEEP KARACKTER XD”, instead of admitting they lost, and have to get better at the game.

And that’s really what it’s about. Invalidating their competitor’s victory, since he wasn’t playing by their terms. “He used a Little Mac, so he didn’t really win, now did he?”

Even when they lose, in their heads, they’ve won, and that’s all that matters to them.
