I tell this to people new to writing fanfics all the time. Every character is an Original Character. 

 Don’t worry that you are writing an OC just worry about writing a good character, like should always do. There will always be OC stigma in a fandom no matter how well you write it. Just accept that and forget about them. Because someone who would hate your work no matter what doesn’t matter.
