So when I was a kid in elementary school we played a very messed up version of rock paper scissors.
Basically no one could understand how paper could possibly beat rock so we concluded rock must beat both paper and scissors. What we didn’t realize is that it turns it into a game where the only winning move is rock. So we still used it to decide things and it was basically a war of attrition to see who would give in and play something other than Rock first.
