So on multiple occasions I have had arguments with people about unlocking things in games. Specifically in multiplayer. The argument is mostly about whether you should have to unlock stuff or unlock it all at the beginning.
I am personally on the side that unlocking guns/characters is only an impediment as a player and does absolutely nothing to serve me as a player. That is only keeping me from using what I actually want ‘to use while wasting my time.
The other side sometimes suggests that this desire is just wanting everything handed to you and not having to work for it. Though I question why I should have to work for the G18 with whatever sight at all. What about any gun make it somehow worth having to be unlocked. If you’re putting proper work to balance your game no gun should be intentionally worth more. (of course no game can be perfectly balanced, that’s not possible without making everyone have the same starting loadout every match)
Some suggest that the sense of progression and gives them more reason to play the game yet because they haven’t unlocked everything yet. Which I find a weird idea because the game should be fun enough to keep wanting to play in the first place. I shouldn’t keep coming back to Battlefield to unlock every gun and accessory, I should be coming back just because its fun enough to want to play.
But that’s my stance on all this and my personal thoughts on games.
