When your screen freezes on porn while you can hear people walking closer to your room

To be a bit more clear. What I don’t like about that post is that it is written like a demand. The way its written, the way I read it it sounds like “go pay attention to that autistic person, pretend to be interested. Do your best to force yourself to be supportive, because if you don’t do it you are a jerk”. That’s what I get from that message. I don’t think it is a truly helpful message, I don’t think its a way to truly make people care about autistic people. Like many posts on this website it reads like some sort of social fear propaganda. Where people will read it and think “I don’t want to be seen as an asshole. I better do the nice thing its telling me to”.
Its a good idea behind it because people do tend to shy away from people with autism spectrum disorders who show they’re symptoms very clearly. And that feels really terrible. It’d be great to break that. But it shouldn’t be done out of fear or obligation, which is what that post puts out.
Okay but uh, if you see an autistic person talking about their special interest, pay attention to them!!!! Like their posts!!! Ask them about it!!! Engage them!!!! Do not ignore them!!!!!!!
Don’t ignore this and don’t ignore autistic people talking about what’s most important to us
Now autism is a spectrum, and I’m not really sure where on the spectrum we are talking about. But personally as someone with Aspergers I do not believe its anyone’s responsibility to pay attention to me when I decide I want to go on about something.
Like being payed attention to is great and I’d love for people to pay engage with me when I want to talk about all the shows and games I’ve put focus in, but not if people are only listening because they have to or else they’re the asshole who didn’t pay attention to the asperger’s guy.
Maybe I’m missing the point, maybe I’m taking it a bit to literally, but I’m not too sure if I 100% agree with the message of this post.
When you find art of the stuff you’re into but it turns out the artist only draws that stuff on commission and would never do it otherwise.

So will tumblr users learn to argue things with out using ad hominem?
Pointing out that the person you’re arguing against has a meme for a username doesn’t disprove shit! Neither does pointing out what fandom they’re into, or whatever sort of weird porn is on their blog. Those don’t actually point out any hole in their argument and it doesn’t prove yours either.
Learn to actually argue and not try to casually discredit your opponent with something that couldn’t be more irrelevant.
